Some providers, including Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, OpenAI and Cloudflare, may process data in the USA. Transfers only take place with a valid transfer mechanism: the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, otherwise the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) with any necessary supplementary measures. Contact us if you would like a copy.
8. Security
We protect data through access control, encrypted transfer (HTTPS), data processing agreements and logging of changes to customer cases. Only staff who need the data for their work have access.
9. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Under section 3-15 of the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act, we only store or read information in your browser with your consent, or when strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested. 10. Product Selector and Support app
You can use the Product Selector and the Support app without giving your name, phone number or email address. Your selections are processed in your browser, and nothing is sent to us until you send an enquiry yourself. The hosting provider (OpenAI and Cloudflare) records technical logs such as IP address, time, URL and browser. The apps do not use cookies for statistics or advertising.
- Saved setups: If you choose “Save setup” in the Product Selector, up to eight setups are stored in your browser. They are not synchronised between devices, but others using the same browser profile can see them. Delete them with the button provided, or by clearing the site's browser data. Your language choice is stored the same way.
- Price lookup: Only part numbers are sent to the server. Your IP address, cookies, messages and setups are not passed on to the webshop. Prices are cached for up to five minutes.
- Shared links, PDFs and email: PDFs and summaries contain a link with your selections encoded in the address. Anyone who receives the link can read them. PDFs and email drafts are created on your device, and nothing is sent until you press send yourself.
- Support app: You can use the Support app without giving any personal data. The case, check results, optical measurements and status output stay in your browser's memory until you decide what to do with them. They are deleted when you close or reload the page.
- Sending the case directly: To send a case, you provide your name, company, phone and email, and your order number if you have it. When you have ticked the box confirming that you have reviewed the content and press “Send support case”, the case and status output are transferred to GLOBALfiber's private support database. Authorised staff handle it there. No email is sent automatically.
- Sending the case by email: You can also download the PDF, case file or email draft and send them yourself to support@globalfiber.no.
- Before you send: Remove passwords, access keys, other people's personal data and unnecessary network details from the status output.
- Internal handling: Authorised staff use the case to record tests, internal notes and the solution, and to reply to you. Contact details and case content are anonymised 24 months after the case is closed. A reviewed, anonymised description of the fault and solution may be kept in our internal knowledge archive. Contact support@globalfiber.no for access or deletion.
11. AI assistance in customer support
Our staff may ask an AI service provided by OpenAI, which processes the data on our behalf, for troubleshooting suggestions. Before each analysis, the staff member confirms which data will be sent.
- Only technical details about the connection are sent, such as equipment models, ports, software, coding, part numbers, optical measurements and excerpts of error messages.
- Name, company, phone, email, order number, internal notes and complete status output are not sent. Common patterns for email addresses, IP addresses and passwords are masked.
- The data is not used to train OpenAI's models. It may be kept by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and may be processed in the USA.
- AI suggestions are hypotheses. A staff member always reviews them before anything is sent to you, and no decisions are made automatically.
12. Website search
The website search may show an AI-generated answer. Your search text is then sent to the provider of the search function to create the answer. Do not enter personal data in the search field.
13. Consent and opting out of marketing
You can withdraw any consent at any time. Every email from us contains an unsubscribe link, or you can contact us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, nor processing based on other grounds, such as orders and customer support.
14. Your rights
- Access: find out whether we process data about you, and get a copy of it.
- Rectification: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Erasure: have data deleted when we no longer need it, or when you withdraw consent.
- Restriction: ask us to temporarily restrict processing, for example while we look into a complaint.
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can always object to direct marketing.
- Data portability: receive data you have given us in a structured, machine-readable format, or have it transferred to another organisation.
Contact us at salg@globalfiber.no to exercise your rights. We reply without undue delay and within 30 days at the latest. We may ask you to confirm your identity before disclosing data.
If you believe we process personal data unlawfully, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet (www.datatilsynet.no). We would appreciate it if you contacted us first.
Installed app / Installert app
The installed selector keeps the last downloaded catalogue, equipment data, product images and app files on this device for offline use. Prices and stock are never stored in the offline cache. “My selections” keeps the last 10 viewed setups locally. No new analytics or tracking scripts are added. The button below deletes saved setups and My selections; remove other offline files through your browser or device site-data settings.
15. Changes
We update this privacy notice when our processing changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. We notify customers by email of significant changes. If processing based on consent changes its purpose, we will ask for your consent again.
